city TRIP

new york city

Back in America. Back in the city. But not in Salt Lake City. Or the Windy City. No, we're back in the Big City. That's right – the Big Apple! And this is the second time we've been overpowered by this city.

But this time we don't go for the top spots and sights of the hottest travel guides. So no queues in front of the Empire State Building and no boat trip to the Statue of Liberty. This time we take our time for the so far unimposing quarters and secret spots of the metropolis. And we let ourselves be surprised and floated by the vibe of the city. The only constant: we walk – as far as our feet will carry us.

Despite the sightseeing factor and because of the dirty weather too we jump from art to art: from the Guggenheim Museum on the Upper East Side to the Brooklyn Museum of Art on the west end of Long Island. And this “little“ walk was definitely worth it thanks to the great and moving Frida Kahlo exhibition.

In between – and now in glorious sunshine – a little dance with hip rollerskaters with the music turned up in Central Park. Despite the clumsy movements on our part a refreshingly fun change for our feet.

From left to right. From top to bottom. We also hike in terms of accommodation during these ten days. True to the motto "Let's go low!" we move from The Ludlow Hotel in the Lower East Side to The Beekman Hotel in Lower Manhattan after half time. Not least because of the incredibly cool equipment and the courteous staff two absolute recommendations.

Even if our feet would say something different by now – exploring the Big City on foot is the best we can imagine. It satisfies both our curiosity and our taste buds. Hard to imagine that we might miss the heavenly delicacies at Mah Ze Dahr Bakery. Or the individual dough curls of Zucker's Bagels and Smoked Fish. Or the fabulous sandwiches at Sadelle's. Or the kosher soups at Russ & Daughters Cafe. Or even the super yummy pancakes at Sunday in Brooklyn.

Well, maybe it is Sin City after all?
