Korinkyo
The Korinkyo is located in the heart of Kanazawa's bustling Korinbo neighbourhood. Just a stone's throw from the Kenroku-en Garden and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, the Korinkyo is not only an excellent starting point for exploring the city. Thanks to its living history, the hotel and its staff are more than just a homecoming for us from an eventful Kanazawa.
The style of the Korinkyo is recognisable from the outside and is also consistently reflected inside: Natural materials, organic shapes, clean design. No element that seems superfluous. Nothing that creates visual clutter. Everything that is few and far between has been carefully chosen, has its place and creates peace of mind and body. The deliberately rounded corners on windows, furniture and useful objects are welcoming, soft and cosy and embrace with every sight and every use.
The hotel's own care products, which are available in every bathroom and can be purchased in the shop on the ground floor, tantalise the senses with their rich fragrances: Purifying lavender, refreshing yuzu or revitalising ashitaba (angelica keiskei) in the form of shampoo, soap or lotion.
The cleansing of our bodies is completed by a multi-layered warm breakfast, which provides a fulfilling start to the day. In a calming atmosphere, the highly attentive staff in the basement of the Korinkyo serve a multi-course menu of rice porridge, steamed vegetables, dumplings and sweet and sour side dishes.
Before we set off on our onward journey, we take a piece of relaxation with us and treat ourselves to a touch of lavender, which will also inspire us at home in dispenser form. And every time we use it, it reminds us of our wonderful time at this marvellous hotel called Korinkyo.
