We looooove art! In all its forms. Because art is geared to be particularly beautiful and pleasing – and then somehow it's actually not. Street art is no exception in this respect. Detailed paintings, brightly coloured graffiti, crazy collages, philosophical wisdom, funny stickers. Maybe you can call it the prestige project of art in general...

Admittedly, street art is unpredictable, yes, sometimes even disturbing! But it is precisely in this wildness that one always finds inspiration and a feeling of freedom – a fact that makes it likeable per se.

Especially on our city trips street art is a very welcome guide. It lets us discover known and unknown cities with completely different eyes. It breaks with learned conventions, rules of style and boundaries, abolishes the top and the bottom, the right and the left and makes "Wow" pictures out of even the smallest corners. The whole city becomes a canvas. A canvas that also doesn't stop at sidewalks, bicycles, trees, lampposts, banisters, doorknobs and brick walls. And the best part? Everything is allowed!

The fact that street art is used as a social mirror can also be seen away from cities, along country roads, on crumbling facades of abandoned shops, residential buildings or petrol stations. There they are a medium for denouncing grievances, for outrage against politics and state power, or for juxtaposing past events with current ones. Openly and yet secretly. Under the cover of their aliases, the artists can express their frustration, their hopes, their longings and their convictions and thus lend a little colour and meaning to a dreary landscape.
